The classic poems of Homer "Iliad" and "Odyssey" are given in the translations of N. I. Gnedich and V. A. Zhukovsky, who are considered classical and most fully convey the features of the originals. The introductory essay on the epic of Homer was written by the famous philosopher and poet Vyacheslav Ivanov. The publication uses drawings of the English artist John Flaxman, who brought him international fame. The dictionary at the end of the book helps readers to more fully perceive relations between the heroes and the gods mentioned in the "Iliad" and the Odyssey
