So many literary heroes over the past two centuries have lost relevance and have been sent to a book non -existence, and the “extra person” of Pechorin, a cold cynic who does not believe in high ideals, living “not with heart, but a head”, a selfish life -burner, abandoning women and fearlessly experiencing it. Fate is still more alive than all living things. This personality is contradictory and ambiguous, because Lermontov wrote the first psychological novel in Russian prose.
