Ancient Greece is the cradle of European civilization, the whole history of art is imbued with the ideas and images of Hellenic culture. Reading ancient Greek poetry today, we can only be amazed at harmony and beauty, the clarity of thought, the consonance of our day. This collection does not pretend to be full, at the same time, it presented works that demonstrate the genre and thematic diversity of ancient poetry - from homer hymns dedicated to the gods, from poems based on mythological subjects to subjective experiences of an individual. Hesiod, Semonid of the Amorgossian, Miminem, Xenofan, Safo and Anacreon - these and other names of Hellenic poets, whose poems are included in the collection, are inscribed in the history of world literature in gold letters
