Count Alexei Nikolaevich Tolstoy in childhood did not go to school. He received a home education - probably very good, because he easily entered the Technological Institute of St. Petersburg at the department of mechanics. But his calling was literature: in 1907 the first collection of poems was published, another year later. Then there were stories, novels, articles, emigration, “walking through torment”, and returning to Russia. The story “The Golden Key, or the Adventures of Pinocchio” was published in 1936 - and the fairy tale immediately became very popular among children and adults.
