The creative story of the Golden Key, or the adventures of Pinocchio began with the alteration and processing by Alexei Tolstoy (1883-1945) of the story of the Italian writer Carlo Collodi (Nast. Surname Lorencini, 1826-1890), which was published in Berlin in 1924. In October 1933, the writer entered into a new manuscript with Detgiz. The writer decided not to retell the story of K. Collodi, but to write on the same topic in his own way. On April 24, 1935, in response to the question of the creative work, Tolstoy told the correspondent of the Literary Newspaper that he graduated from a “new novel for children and adults.
