Over the past hundreds of years, the mutual interest of Russia and the United States in the literature does not weaken, despite political conflicts and disagreements between the two countries. However, the directions of the latest American poetry - the currents that have been searching for new languages and forms of literary writing since the middle of the last century - are still not familiar with the Russian reader. Anthology sets itself the task of filling this gap and most fully represent the four main American poetic movements to the Russian-speaking public-the Black Mountain school (Black Mountain), New York School, San Francisian Renaissance and Language School (Language Letter) Inheriting the American modernists in the range from Gertrude Stein and Ezra Pound to Luis Zukofsky and William Carlos Williams, these directions continue to actively develop in our time. The book includes works written from the beginning of the 1950s to the 20s of the XXI century, and each section of anthology is preceded by an outline of the history of the corresponding direction based on actual scientific literature.
