The story "for the whole life" is the second part of the autobiographical trilogy L. A. Char, the most popular pre -revolutionary writer.
If in the first part - in the story "for what?" - It was told about the childhood of Lida Voronskaya, then from this book the reader learns about youth, growing up, about the marriage of Lydia. The beginning of an independent life for a Russian girl of the late XIX century was a difficult stage. And the reason for this is not only emotional or material, associated with the need to obtain livelihoods. Even those for whom the monetary problem was not of solving importance, they were forced to think about the methods of self -determination and self -expression in the private and social spheres. With such thoughts, in such an atmosphere, our heroine crossed the threshold of adulthood. Behind the institute life, ahead is unknown, uncertainty, obscurity. This book ends on a dramatic note, idyll is coming to an end, an disturbing motive is clear on the last pages: "It will give me something" soon ", such captivating and terrible ... from which you can’t dodge, not to leave! .."
