The poetic translations of Boris Leonidovich Pasternak, the largest poet of the twentieth century, the Laureate of the Nobel Prize, have long become the “fact of Russian poetry” and are included in his artistic world as milestones, to some extent defining his own creative path. Among the poets, who was addressed by Boris Pasternak as a translator, were Shakespeare and Goethe, Shelley and Kits, Verlaine, Rilke, Pethefi, etc., according to Pasternak, the translation should be a self -sufficient artwork. It is justified only when it conveys the spirit of the original and makes the impression of “life, not literature”: “The correspondence of the text is the connection too weak to ensure the translation of expediency. Such transfers do not justify promises. Their pale retelling does not give the concept of the main side of the subject that they undertake to reflect - about its strength.
