"I am your heart, - always and everywhere yours!" This line of the great Russian poet Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov (1814-1841) is not addressed to a woman - to the Caucasus. "Caucasus is made by his poetic homeland" (Belinsky) It was there, in the Caucasus, the realities of life and majestic nature were surprisingly coincided with the youthful romantic dreams of the poet. After all, both the “demon” and "Mtsyri" were conceived by him almost in childhood, but after meeting the Caucasus, the poems were re -reduced, polished, brought to perfection. Is it necessary to explain that today, when the tragic fate of the poet is known, so much personal is read both alone in the middle of the universe, and in the frantic thirst for Mtsyri’s life. Lermontov spoke amazingly relevant for the descendants in Caucasian verses and poems - "Circassians", "Caucasian captive", "Hadji Abrek" and others today read as a report with advanced, then as a hymn of freedom and protest against despotism.
