Every morning, the rooster Dudley was the first to welcome the sun. In response, the sun gave him a wide smile - Dudley was his beloved Kukarike. However, the rooster was also a favorite in the cattle yard. The animals sincerely believed that it was Dudley that forces the sun to get up in the morning. Dudley himself did not think so and, in order to correct this misunderstanding, he decided to tell his comrades that he was the most ordinary rooster and that his singing does not wake the sun - it rises by itself. But the evil, envious Goose Gunter overheard his thoughts and declared Dudley a fraudster. The inhabitants of the cattle yard did not believe the fat man Gunter. And they were right. Once Dudley could not get drunk dawn, and the sun did not rise.
This fairy tale was composed and painted by Bill Pete (1915–2002) - the famous American artist, screenwriter and writer, whose books have been published in different languages of the world for more than half a century. Before becoming a writer, Bill Pete worked for many years as an artist-multiplier at Walt Disney studio and participated in the creation of the legendary full-length cartoons, such as Snow White and Seven Dwarfs, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and many others
