Oleg Yuryev (1959–2018) - an outstanding Russian poet, representative of the last generation of non -certificate literature. In the two -volume, for the first time his poetic heritage was collected. In the works of Yuryev, the unknown capabilities of the Russian language are revealed, the past of poetic culture is closed with the future. The world in which his poetry exists is the world of colopia.
The contribution of Yuryev to modern Russian culture is great and diverse. His novels and books of essays became an important phenomenon of literature of the 1990–2000s. His plays are in many Russian and European theaters. His articles gave rise to fruitful discussions. In the 1980s, he, along with his friends, founded the literary project “Storage camera” in Leningrad, which in different forms lasted until 2015 and was an important part of the poetic landscape of the last decades. Yuryev did a lot to return to our cultural consciousness of the forgotten names of Russian literature of the 20th century and attracting attention to the work of talented authors of new generations.
Since 1991, Yuryev lived in Germany, also wrote in German. During his lifetime, he released 16 books in Russian and 13 in German (poems, prose, essays, plays) His works are translated into many languages. He became the laureate of the Hilda Domin Prize (2010), the Zvezda magazine (2012), the New World journal (2013), the Difference Awards (2014), the Anthologia poetic prize magazine New World (2016), Russian Prize (2017)
