Wilhelm Gauf (1802-1827) - the famous German storyteller, was born in the family of an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Prussia and noblewoman from Alsas. The boy was only 7 years old, when his father died and the family moved to the grandfather"s estate in the city of Tubingen. A huge library has become a favorite place for little Wilhelm, and books became best friends. After graduating from the university, Gauf began to work as a tutor in the family of the Minister of Defense - General Baron von Herel. It was for his little pupils that William began to write fairy tales. For the first time, V. Gauf’s fairy tales were published in the Almanac of the Tales of January 1826 for sons and daughters of noble classes" and immediately found many fans.
