Vadim Sergeyevich Shefner is a famous Soviet writer, journalist and translator, indigenous Leningrad. He was carried away by writing prose, being an already recognized poet, and this could not but affect his works - written by an unusually living language, distinguished by a special imagery, simple quiet wisdom and sensitive attention to the details.
The book includes the story "Clouds over the road", the stories "Hot Summer", "Heiress", "Unknown Friend", "Alien" and others. The story tells about the orphan boy, whose childhood was in the difficult 20s of the XX century. Dimka had a lot of tests - first in the house of an evil and greedy long -distance relative, then in the orphanage. But he does not lose heart, but still loves life and believes in people: I was a traveler on the far road ... There were lifts and descents, and crossings, but there were no abysses ... Anyway, the road led into the distance, ahead. Heroes of stories are ordinary people, adults, children and adolescents who in their own way solve their life problems, experience losses and bitterness of parting. The author puts each of them in circumstances when they simply need to make a decisive choice and understand themselves, to realize the origins of their feelings and actions. The bright, lyrical atmosphere of Shefner"s prose, vivid pictures of nature and descriptions of the feelings of the heroes remain in memory for a long time.
