The biblical topics in the work of the great poet Joseph Brodsky (1940-1996) have paid a lot of attention, but the plot of Christmas occupies a special place in them. About Christmas, he wrote that this is primarily “a holiday associated with a certain reality, with the movement of time” - a birthday that “to a person is no less natural to celebrate than his own.” Therefore, Brodsky tried to write a poem for every Christmas: to note the phenomenon of a miracle from the void of time, the appearance of a Christmas star in the sky - and thank the calendar for its constancy. Since the beginning of the 1960s, almost twenty texts have been created by the poet. They entered this book with illustrations at which engravings of Western European masters of the XV-XVII centuries from the meeting of the State Hermitage are presented. For a real publication, they were selected by art forces Dmitry Ozerkov
