Since 1962, when, according to Joseph Brodsky himself, he “began to write poetry seriously,” the poet tried to write a poem for each Christmas - as a birthday greetings. “In the end, what is Christmas? The birthday of the God -man. And a person is no less natural to celebrate him than his own. ” Nevertheless, the Christmas poems collected in this book are special congratulations: together they are not only a gift for Christmas, but also the quintessence of Brodsky’s work
