Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov (1814-1841) - Russian poet, prose writer, playwright, a bright representative of the Golden Age of Russian Literature. Born in Moscow in the family of an officer. His mother, Maria Mikhailovna, died when the boy was not even 3 years old. The upbringing of the future poet was engaged in his maternal grandmother Elizaveta Alekseevna Arsenieva, the boy spent his childhood at her estate Tarkhana (Penza province).
Initially, the future poet received a home education. In 1828-1830 He studied at a boarding house at the University of Moscow, then his first poems were written. In 1830-1832 M.Yu. Lermontov studied at Moscow University, however, without graduating, he filed a petition for deductions. In 1832 he entered the school of guards supporters and cavalry junkers, after which he was appointed to the hussar regiment.
In those years, the poetic talent of M.Yu. Lermontov was not known to the general public - he represented his works only in officer and secular circles. The first publication was held without the knowledge of M.Yu. Lermontova - in 1835 the manuscript of the poem "Haji Abrek" secretly transferred his distant relative N.D. Yuryev. Despite the successful debut, M.Yu. Lermontov did not want to publish his poems.
Real fame M.Yu. Lermontov brought the poem "The Death of the Poet" (1837) - a response to the last duel A.S. Pushkin. And although this poem was not published, it was distributed "in the lists", it still caused the emperor’s extreme displeasure, for which the poet was sent to the Caucasus to the army. Here M.Yu. Lermontov wrote many poetic works, in addition, he began to engage in painting.
