Oleg Aleksandrovich Yuryev (1959-2018) was born in Leningrad, since 1991 he lived in Frankfurt, wrote in Russian and German. The author of many books, including published in German, plays were set in different countries. O. Yuryev is a poet of rare tension of meaning and sound, the matter of the tongue in his late verses becomes thinner to the costal frame of classical Russian prosodies. Their acoustic structure is such that it captures the finest vibrations of colloquial Leningrad, non -infinitive speech, collecting it in a single luminous bundle. The more unexpected is the "Book of circumstances" - three big poems in prose, sharply breaking out of the “canonical”, based on the adherence of the strict regular size of the poet’s repertoire. Three types of circumstances organizing three poems of the book - places, time, image of action - three dramatic unity. This is the experience of delaying, stopping, fixing on small and as if optional. The poet muffles the rhythm, restrains the power of inspiration, the virtuosity of the versification goes into the shadow, art retreats - and, in a paradoxical way, gives a chance to return to what was behind him, to him
