The world in the verses of Grigory Starikovsky is on the verge of disappearance. The visible (and conceivable) "landscape, after the battle", is torn into many fragments echoing among themselves, plaster crumbles in them, a volcanic Italian ash flies, everything spreads at the seams, covered with cracks. The poem is built as a ruin, where the main thing is gaping and a gap. Nevertheless, in the faults of historical plates, it shines like a wind, the memory of another landscape, about the world on the verge of birth. Grigory Starikovsky (b. 1971) - poet, translator, essayist. Born and raised in Moscow. In the USA since 1992. He graduated from Colombian University (Department of Classical Philology), teaches Latin at school. Translated Pindar, Property, Virgil, Avla Persia, Odyssey (Songs 9-12), Sophocles (“King Oedipus"), as well as verses by Walt Whitman, William Carlos Williams, Luis Maknis, Derek Walcott, Sheimus Khini and others.
