The young Krylov was patronized by Gavril Romanovich Derzhavin himself. The playwright Krylov, who began then, was disappointed to see his plays on stage and began to publish the satirical magazine “The Post of Spirits”. He ridiculed the absurdity of the established rules of life and indignant at the immorality of the powers that be.
But the magazine was closed for radicalism.
Krylov’s first fables appeared much later, but the first book of fables made his name very famous.
Ivan Krylov - the hero of numerous jokes and legends, nicknamed the grandfather of Krylov, merged in the minds of contemporaries with his fables. Vasily Zhukovsky considered him fables poetic lessons of wisdom. Indeed, Krylov’s lines literally in front of his eyes became proverbs, winged words.
