“Anabasis” (“Anabasis Kira”, or “Kira’s campaign”) is an outstanding composition of the ancient Greek historian Xenophon, which was highly appreciated by ancient rites and had a great influence on Greek and Latin prose. Among the sources containing information about the unsuccessful campaign of Kira the Younger against the Persian king Artaxerxes, “Anabasis, of course, belongs to the first place. And although the story comes from a third person, and one of the characters is Xenophon himself, this composition is autobiographical (Xenophon wanted to hide his authorship behind a pseudonym) “Anabasis” is interesting not only to the richest actual material regarding the most diverse spheres of life, in addition to military history itself, but also as a wonderful monument of literature
