About the translator:
Alexander Pavlovich Olenich-Genenko (1893-1963)-writer, translator, public figure. Born in the Poltava province in the family of a famous journalist, and spent his childhood in Siberia. Member of the Great Patriotic War. From his youth he wrote poetry, acquired fame as a translator.
"Alice in the Wonderland of Wonders" Olenich-Genenko translated into Russian in 1940, twenty years before the adoption of the translation of Nina Demurova, thirty years before the translation of Boris Zakhoder. Until 1961, "Alice ..." was translated by Olenich-Genenko repeatedly reprinted.
