The classic of the English Renaissance, John Donn, like his contemporary William Shakespeare, turned out to be a poet for all times. The ardent young man in a wide -brimmed hat, the gloomy preacher in the dark cassock became, unknown like our contemporary. Words, images, intonations of Donna, preserving the secret of his special vitality and amazing ability to generate unwilling waves in space and time, became part of the poetry of the 20th century, influencing many poets of Europe - from Thomas Eliot to Joseph Brodsky.
