The events of the novel unfolded in 1967 at the Illinois International Airport. A prolonged snow buran breaks the usual course of the life of not only passengers, but also employees of the airport. The fatal January evening unites characters with different fate, when a distraught loser without work, in a desperate attempt to get money for a ruined family, decided to blow himself up on an airplane, having previously arranged insurance in the name of his wife.
