The awkward orphan Dorish works in the kitchen in the estate of the sugar planter in the north of Brazil. She knows nothing but the master’s house and the fields surrounding it with a sugarcane. But once her peer appears in the house, the owner’s daughter is a grace, beautiful, smart and impudent. Dorish and Grase, girls from different worlds, are connected by loneliness in a dumb corner of Brazil, divorced from the whole world. Music lives in each of them. One has a miraculous voice of a bird"s singer, and the other composes poetry to the beat of the melodies that sound inside it. And both dream of plunging into the big world. Music will become their common passion, the basis of their friendship and rivalry, and the only way to escape from the life to which they seemed sentenced. And once it succeeds. Their intimate, changeable connection for a couple with music will determine their fate.
