Limerns originated for a very long time, almost in the XIII century. The registration was received in English -speaking countries. In the XVIII century, Irish poets, gathering in port taverns (in the city of Limerick, in particular), during the feasts, composed poetry poems, very similar to modern limits. But their "King" was found in the 19th century. He was the English artist and poet Edward Lear. "Nonsensa Book" E. Lira, published in 1846, was stunning success. It was she who gave the beginning of the so -called nonsense literature.
In Russia, E. Lira Lira Lyrem has been translated for a century and a half. Under the charm of "nonsense" poems, as S. Marshak called them, more and more interpreters fall. In our book, Limerns are published in the translation of the modern poet Henry Vardengi. Contemporary artist Igor Oleinikov illustrated the book. Their heroes live inside the kettle, wear an oil platform on their heads, throw Panama from space (and fall exactly on Panama!), Fly on a fly, nurse fish, eat only crumbs ... It only seems that there is no sense in all this ...
