The book of the translator and researcher of English -speaking poetry Grigory Mikhailovich Kruzhkov (born 1945) consists of two parts. The first included the author’s translations of children"s songs and nursery rhymes from the folklore collection "Songs of the Mother Husthly", Limerikov of the English artist and poet Edward Lira (1812-1888) and poems by the English writer Lewis Carroll (1832-1898) The second part of the "predecessors and followers" traces the history of comic poetry in England - from the Shakespearean era to Victorian. Poems are accompanied by literary articles and comments. The book is equipped with many black and white humorous illustrations. The publication is addressed to literary scholars, translators, connoisseurs of English poetry and absurdity literature
