This book is not a collection of advice to parents, not a practical guide to raising children. This is a look at the phenomenon of childhood by the eyes of the anthropologist. Childhood is a stage of the life cycle between infancy and adolescence, which is only in humans. So where did it come from? And why should it be from the point of view of evolution - for growth, development, training, or for something else? The author is trying to answer these questions, exploring the fascinating border, where biology faces culture, where parents and their children pushes their nature in one direction, and to another culture. The author expresses the hope that by reading this work, parents and everything, one way or another involved in the upbringing of children, think about what they do why they do it so, and not otherwise, and that maybe there are and Other ways to help our children enter adulthood, than those adopted in our western, culture
