Boris Andreevich Pilnyak (real name Vogau, 1894-1938) - Russian Soviet writer, prose writer. During life, remaining one of the most published writers, he was subjected to merciless criticism for formalism, erotica, mysticism, and most importantly - for "ideological mistakes". At the end of 1937 he was arrested, and in April 1938 he was accused of espionage in favor of Japan and shot. Rehabilitated in 1956.
The collection compiled three novels by Boris Pilnyak. The scandalous "story of the outstanding moon" (1926) lasted only two days on sale, after which the circulation was seized. The book saw a hidden hint of the violent nature of the death of the commander M.V. Frunze, whom the country"s leadership was forcibly sent for an operation ending in death. In the story "Shtoss to Life" (1928), covering the last days of the life of Yu. M. Lermontov, the author considers the circumstances of the poet"s disastrous duel. The story "Zavolochye (1925) describes the scientific expedition to the Arctic, showing how the difficult conditions of the campaign and the constant struggle for survival destroy the human beginning in people and arouse animal.
