This book is the first presentation in Russian by a Russian author of Orthodox doctrine. It was created in Western Russia in the 1620s as a response to Catholic and Uniate teachings. It was first published in Moscow in 1627, but its print run was destroyed by Patriarch Philaret, who later blessed its publication. Despite this, the work was reprinted several times by Orthodox believers in Grodno and circulated widely in manuscripts both in the West and the East. It had a significant influence on the Russian Old Believers. Our book was created based on the Moscow edition of 1627, manuscript tradition, and the Orthodox reprinting of the monument in the 19th century.
