The word "Katichizis" in the Greek language means "announcement, oral instruction". From the apostolic times, this word according to tradition is designated the initial teaching about the Orthodox faith, which is necessary for each Christian (see Lux. 1.4, Acts 18.25) The book of St. Filaret (Drozdova), Metropolitan of the Moscow and Kolomensky "St. Orthodox Catchism of the Orthodox Catolytic Eastern Church" contains the main definitions of faith. Philaret (Drozdov) so determined the essence of Catechism: "Orthodox Catchism is the instruction in the Orthodox faith of the Christian, who was taught by every Christian to fit God and save the soul ... And for the landscament of God and to save the soul you need: the knowledge of the true God and the right faith in it, Life in faith and appropriate good deeds".
The peculiarity of this book is that the editorial board fully maintained the text and the form of the statement of Katichism, published during the life of the Filaret saint in 1827
