The worldwide popularity of the silent film star Cat Felix came in the mid-1920s when cartoons about the extraordinary cat were watched all over the world. Images of Felix, whose name means 'luck', were used as a talisman in sports and aviation. There is even a legend that Charles Lindbergh took a Felix toy on board the plane during his transatlantic flight. And although the legend has long been debunked, its existence does not cast doubt on the character's popularity. However, Felix did not bring luck to his creator, Pat Sullivan. The demanding schedule of releasing new episodes and feature films led to alcohol addiction and depression. And the refusal to give Felix a voice, and later Pat's death in 1933, led his animation studio to collapse. Interest in Felix gradually waned, and new adventures were only released in comics. It wasn't until the late 1950s that Joseph Oriolo gave Felix a magical suitcase in a new animated series, which was broadcast in Russia in the 90s. In this anthology, we have collected stories about Cat Felix by artist Otto Messmer, which were published by Dell Publishing and Toby Press from 1948 to 1953.
