The monograph discusses the use of modern possibilities in the legal process that are available in connection with human activity in the global information space, including new electronic types of evidence. Such evidence is acquired through the application of special knowledge. The legal basis for the application of special knowledge by the bodies that carry out a preliminary investigation, as well as the direction of the application of special knowledge in the criminal process, are disclosed.
Particular attention is paid to the features of proving involvement in crimes (offenses) committed on the Internet. The concept and forensic significance of the method of committing crimes using information and telecommunication networks have been determined, objective elements of the method of committing such crimes (place, time, devices, and encroachment objects) are revealed. Practical aspects of evidence of crimes committed using information and telecommunication networks, including in terms of the mechanism of trace formation in information networks, etc. are set out for scientists, lawyers, judges, prosecutors, investigators, employees of security enterprises and security companies and special services involved in the processing of information, its storage and protection
