Church law today is part of corporate law. Secular courts in the United States, for example, recognize the significance of decisions of church vessels and laws in resolving intra -corporate disputes. Like the Russian Empire recognized the right of its Muslim submitted to succeed according to the laws of Sharia, and the Ottoman Empire recognized the law of the patriarch’s court over the Christian population. Meanwhile, the norms of church law were developed in the first millennium and have not been modernized since then.
The theme of this study is how such an ancient legal framework can be updated.
