This monograph is devoted to the process of formation and theoretical foundations of the Institute of Insolvency (Bankruptcy) of a citizen in the modern system of Russian law. The problems of the legal identification of the institution governing the bankruptcy of citizens are considered, the place of this institution is determined in the system of specialized legal institutions of insolvency and bankruptcy. The author defines the role and importance of the regulatory and protective functions of the institute under consideration, economic and legal prerequisites for the institutionalization of the relations of the insolvency of citizens in the Russian Federation, as well as the stages of the genesis of the institutionalization of the insolvency and bankruptcy of citizens in the Russian legal system. The work is of interest both for theoretical research of the failure (bankruptcy) of citizens, and practical importance for judges of arbitration courts practicing lawyers, and will also be recommended for students, undergraduates, graduate students and teachers of law faculties
