The book tells about one of the dramatic episodes of the Caucasian War of the XIX century, when the numerous detachment of the Howsers made a raid for the estate of Kinandali, who belonged to the princes of Chavchavadze, and was captured by Knyagin A.I. Schavchavadze and V.I. Erbeliani along with children and servant. In a well-fortified residence of Shamil, the captives spent more than eight months and after long negotiations were released in exchange for the Jemalheddin, the Senior Son Shamil, and a significant amount of money.
The author of the book - famous in the past Essays of Evgraf Alekseevich, who had the opportunity to hear the history of captivity from the princess itself, which gave his narrative effect of particular reliability. The "Incomplete Tale" of Verperevsky contains many interesting details about the home setting of Shamil and faces from his nearest environment. In Russia, the book "Caucasian prisoners, or captivity of Shamil, has passed two publications (St. Petersburg, 1856, M., 1857) and, despite the great interest in it, was not reissued for more than 160 years.
