The main thesis of the book is such: despite problems with reputation, democracy and capitalism won the most part of the planet. Throughout the existence of these systems, humanity was convinced of their practicality and is harmoniously (although sometimes reluctant) it came to the conclusion that they, as any other economic and political forms of the device of society, inherent in the dignity, and disadvantages. Capitalism and democracy cannot like everyone, but if they do not envisage something, then without it, as in the Ralph"s grocery shop, invented by the American humorist Harrison Keylor, most likely can do.
The study of J.Muller was built not only on the materials of the history of traditional democracies of the West, but considers the processes occurring on the territory of the former socialist, and evaluates the efforts of the political leaders of both the former USSR and modern Russia. The book is intended for specialists - political scientists, historians, economists - and a wide range of readers
