Eduard Gravie was born in 1809 in France. He devoted his whole creative life to naturally scientific plots, which he expressed with the help of watercolors and lithography. In 1831 - 1866, the grass was regularly exhibited in the Paris salon. His ornithological drawings were considered the most accurate and thin that have ever been created. But the artist tried himself in other genres, wrote landscapes and marine animals and was one of the first to begin to portray animals and birds in a natural habitat. Herbal was lithographs his own watercolor work himself (he received a print from the smooth surface of the stone) Album of Herbal, dedicated to birds, was published simultaneously in London and Paris in 1857.
