The basics of the theory of increasing the thermal efficiency of power plants through the use of gas turbine and combined cycle technologies are presented. A classification is given, along with the fundamental and calculated thermal schemes, parameters, and characteristics of gas turbine and combined cycle installations of various types, as well as the principles of their operation. The designs of combustion chambers and features of fuel combustion in the combustion chambers of gas turbine installations are described. Methodologies and examples of calculating the thermal schemes of gas turbine installations with waste heat boilers and combined cycle power plants are provided.
