The second volume of the capital labor of Immanuel Vallestain “Mir-System of Modern” is dedicated to key milestones in the history of the capitalist world-economy of the XVII-the first third of the XVIII centuries: the short-term Dutch hegemony, the first stages of the struggle for hegemony between England and France, the emergence of new rising semi-peripheral powers (Sweden, Prussia, Russia) Contrary to the current idea of the “duty” of the XVII century as a period of “refined” and “lordic reaction”, the author demonstrates that in reality the “crisis of the 17th century” was a time of consolidation and consolidation of capitalist forces, which prepared the subsequent stage of the new large -scale expansion of capitalism at the line of the XVIII —XIX centuries. The translation was made to reprint the race of the year containing a new preface in which Wallerstein offers a brief theoretical resume of the world-system approach through the prism of the concept of “hegemony”
