The monograph is devoted to the analysis of Russia"s strategy in relation to the Caspian direction important for its foreign policy. The author shows what serious changes around the Caspian Sea led the collapse of the USSR in 1991, how Russia adapted its strategy in relation to the sea in the conditions of the emergence of three new independent states and the increased interest of Western political circles in the resources of the sea. As with the active Russian participation in August 2018, the Convention was signed on the international legal status of the Caspian Sea. This document made it possible to provide a regional security system for Russia, as well as form a legal framework for protecting the ecology of the sea and developing economic relations with neighbors
