Only those who have, for whom to live, can survive in a concentration camp. At that moment, when a person for the first time is a deal with his conscience, he betrays his comrades or the memory of loved ones, he is doomed ...
In 1942, the Austrian psychiatrist and neurologist Victor Frankl got into the concentration camp of Terezienstadt. His days were numbered, but awareness of this did not deprive him of his will to life. Moreover, he unexpectedly understood for himself: only one who has, for whom to live, can survive in a concentration camp. People who have lost their human appearance in a pursuit of a piece of bread were the first to die, but those who were warmed by the hope of seeing their relatives continued to cling to life.
Together with his friend Karl Fleishman, secretly from the SS, he began to provide psychological assistance to prisoners. The psychiatrist managed to survive, but having gained freedom, he found out that his wife, child and parents are dead.
Thus, the concept of existential psychology of Victor Francers was born. Having survived the terrible torment and pain of the loss of relatives, Frankl was not only able to preserve a person in himself, but also helped thousands of other people. The memories of the most difficult days of the psychiatrist’s life, which have become a kind of survival guide in inhuman conditions, became the basis for this book
