A fundamentally new view of the development of organizations that will help to switch to the next level of development and build a conscious and integral company of the future.
Most of organizational development books are written for those who seek to master the secrets of the market conquering, ahead of competitors and increase profits. They give advice on how to more successfully play the game within the existing managerial paradigm. But the way we used to manage is hopelessly outdated. And this book was created as a manual for managers who felt that something was lacking in the usual style of leadership, that it was necessary to change something, and they want to figure it out.
In the first part of the book, the author offers a large -scale historical review of the evolution of organizational paradigms. It explains that whenever humanity rushes to a new level of consciousness, it invents a fundamentally more productive organizational model. Are we witnesses of this decisive stage today? Are we ready for such a jump?
The second part of the book is a guide to action. On the example of real organizations (commercial and non-profit, schools and hospitals), this section tells about how in a new way, with attention to people, you can organize work. On what principles are these organizations built, and how do they work day a day?
The third part considers the necessary conditions for the successful development of organizations. What is needed for the organization to start working on this new model? Is it possible to transform existing organizations? If so, how? And what can you count on?
From the preface
The way we are trying to solve the current problems of organizations often aggravates them, and not correctly corrects them. Most organizations pass through many stages of reorganizations, centralizations and decentralizations, through the introduction of new information technologies, new tasks, and the proclamation of new "missions". However, it seems that the existing method of managing organizations has practically exhausted itself, and all these traditional recipes often themselves are part of the problem, and not its solution.
We strive for something more, for fundamentally new and better ways to organize joint work of people. But is this really possible or is it just unrealistic dreams? If, nevertheless, organizations that can more fully disclose a person’s potential can be created, then how should they look? How to breathe life into them? Here are the questions underlying this book.
For me, these issues are not only theoretical, but also quite practical interest. More and more people are striving to create truly spiritualized organizations. The catch is that we do not quite understand how to do it. Many of us no longer need to be convinced of the urgent need to update companies, enterprises, schools and hospitals. All that we need is a belief that this is possible, and answers to very specific questions. The hierarchical pyramid is already perceived as something outdated, but how can it be replaced? How to make decisions? It is good that everyone participates in making important decisions, and not just the bosses, but will this not lead to chaos? What to do with service promotion and raising wages?
Is it possible to solve these issues without intrigues and politics? How to hold meetings so that they are productive and cheer up to the participants? How to make sure that at the meetings we spoke sincerely, and are not movable only to selfish motives? As in everything we are doing, to be guided by the most important goal and at the same time not to give free rein to the cynicism, which are often sinful by the bruised "missions" of many companies? We do not need a certain great concept of organizing a new type. We need specific answers to many questions.
