Cryptocurrency, blockchain, bitcoin - these technologies have gained popularity around the world. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies begin to be used in calculations of both business and ordinary consumers. Cryptocurrencies are actively traded on many exchanges. The state view of cryptocurrencies is very different: some countries prohibit them, others try to legalize, but not as currencies, but as property, as securities or other assets, there are countries that recognized the possibility of using cryptocurrency in limited areas.
This publication considers the history of the formation of these technologies and their conceptual features. It is shown that the blockchain is based on these technologies. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are defined as a derivative of a combination of several modern technologies: blockchain, proof of work (POW - Proof of Work), cryptography, electronic wallets, assets exchanges and peering network with equal nodes. The related to the development of cryptocurrencies organizational issues is considered. The quality of the solution of these issues will be a direct dependence on the success of the practical implementation of innovative technologies. It is explained that the active exchange trading of cryptocurrencies is not the concept of developers, but an objective necessity is to satisfy customer requests for namaining cryptocurrencies.
