The book includes the novels "Crossroads" and "The House," which, according to the author's intention, are standalone works and at the same time parts of the tetralogy "Brothers and Sisters." The action of the first novel takes place in the early 1950s - another episode from the history of the village of Pekashino, revealing the negative changes in the consciousness of the Russian peasant due to short-sighted state policies that do not allow the rural laborer to benefit from the results of their work. In the second novel, dedicated to events in the same village in the 1970s, all aspects of human existence are shown - the personal life of the family, socio-moral problems of society, attempts to preserve the original national traits of our people.
