The collective monograph presented to the readers consists of articles and essays prepared based on reports that were presented at the international conference held at the Central House of Architects in Moscow on September 15-16, 2021. The conference, dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Boris Mikhailovich Iofan, went beyond discussing the creative career and legacy of a specific architect. The figure of a former emigrant who received European education and upon returning occupied a special, unique place in the architectural life of the USSR is included in various contexts and allows for addressing a range of issues related not only to the era of Stalinist dictatorship but also to the global history of architecture and art in the second quarter of the 20th century.
