In 1977, the town of Claire Lake in the state of Oregon discusses mysterious murders committed by the enigmatic Lady Killer: two men were shot at different times from the same gun. The reasons are unclear, both left pre-death notes of strange content. The twenty-three-year-old Beth Greer, rich and eccentric, immediately becomes a suspect - she was seen fleeing the crime scene. But the jury acquits Beth, and since then she has led a secluded life in her gloomy large house on the ocean shore.
2017. Twenty-nine-year-old recently divorced Shea Collins works in the clinic's registry and devotes all her free time to her website, where she writes about unsolved crimes and serial killers. Accidentally meeting Beth Greer at the clinic, Shea asks her for an interview, although she does not believe in a positive response.
But Beth agrees.
Shea is overcome with horror every time she crosses the threshold of this gloomy, unwelcoming house, the owner of which may be the same lady killer... But the desire to learn the truth that has been hidden from everyone for so long is stronger than fear.
