The Jewish Bible (Tanahs) consists of 24 books divided into three groups - Pentateuch (Torah), Prophets (Nevim) and Scriptures (KTUVIM).
Torah translated almost all languages of the world and is well known and is available to a Russian-speaking reader.
But there is another group of biblical texts that have a special status in the Jewish tradition: they are customary to read in the synagogue in particularly solemn cases - on holidays. This group includes five small volumes, but deep in the meaning of "scrolls" (Megilot) These books are different in the genre, style and form of the narrative: from the poetic wider of GA-Shirim before the narrative Esther and Ruth. They are not like confusion and intonations: from Ahih, mourning on the destroyed temple, to the philosophical condemning cohere and the lyrical width of Ga-Shirim, expressing the endless love between the Almighty and the people of Israel. Combines their importance attached by these works in the Jewish tradition. This is evidenced by the extraordinary abundance of traditional and modern comments on these texts. Over the centuries, the "scrolls" have paid close attention to Jewish (and not only) wise men, researchers and commentators, and there was a collected wisdom to be built around them, scrupulously disassembled by the most brilliant minds, which our people gave the world
