VIII All -Union Championship (Leningrad 1933), as any chess event exclusive in importance, summarizes certain results of the activities of the Soviet chess organization. It is already the fact that for the first time after a large break, it again gathered all the best qualified forces of the Union, that without exception, young and old masters sought to take part in this tournament, so to speak, “rushed into battle” speaks of the specific gravity of chess in our cultural construction.
Recently, the authority of Shahorganizations in the center and in the field has incredibly increased. Chess won a strong place in houses and cultural holidays, they deeply entered, they attract hundreds of thousands of workers and employees, Red Army soldiers, collective farmers, and pioneers.
Responsible chess competitions are no longer stretched for several months, as usually took place several years ago. With the light hand of Leningrad, who organized his championship in 1932 with the liberation of participants from work, this experience quickly transferred to all the more or less outstanding trade union, female, team and other events. Not only in the All -Union and Republican competitions, but also in city tournaments, chess players and chess players are exempted from work to all 100% surrender to chess creativity and conduct a indicative competition in all respects.
