The English grandmaster Nigel Short (born on June 1, 1965) is one of the most successful chess players in the 80-90s of the XX century. And even when he was already over 50, he entered the top 100. The three -time champion of England, a participant in the 12 World Chess Olympiads as part of the national team of his country, he reached his career peak in 1993, when he won the right to fight Harry Kasparov in a match for the world title. Nigel Short is a member of the Order of the British Empire, Vice President FIDE (since 2018)
