The new book of the famous journalist of the international master Vladimir Barsky is devoted to the methods of finding typical matte combinations. About 1000 examples (of which 882 - for an independent solution) are divided into 10 chapters, in each of which the “first violin” is played by a particular figure or several figures. A similar classification based on the final matte picture was proposed by the classic of Soviet and Russian chess journalism Viktor Lvovich Henkin (1923-2010) in his bestseller "Last Shah".
With all the variety of chess of matte combinations, there are not so many, about a hundred, of which the basic are no more than two or three dozen. Remember the main schemes by the forces not even a very experienced chess player. Numerous well -selected examples from parties played in the 21st century show typical attacks of attacks on the king, teach combinations even in harmless positions. The book is addressed to chess players: it can serve as a training manual for schoolchildren, but it will be interesting to adults
